The Ministry recognises that young people do not always recognise or acknowledge their health challenges. The Youth Health Caravan is a unique approach to sharing lifestyle related information to reach youth in their communities. The intent therefore is to empower young people to take personal responsibility for the quality and standard of their lives and to be active change agents in the process. The Caravan takes the form of a health fair model. It utilises a wide range of youth friendly, participatory methodologies, e.g. games, testimonies, music, drama, spoken word and other novelty activities, to raise awareness of health issues and facilitate learning in a youth friendly manner and environment.
Beyond the one-day intervention, there is also the formation of a Youth Health Committee or a Youth Health Action or Advocacy Group, led by young people at the community level concerned about promoting healthy lifestyles among youth on an on-going basis.
