The Honourable Darryl Smith espoused the hosting of the local qualifier for the World Short Course Championships at our world class swimming facilities, the National Aquatic Centre, from 11th to 13th November 2016. Minister Smith, who presented awards at the National Open Short Course Championships, praised the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad & Tobago (ASATT) for the successful hosting of the event. He encouraged other NGBs to also utilize the facilities, which he reiterated belongs to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Over the four days, records were broken by Kristen Julien (Areios Aquatechs), Graham Chatoor (Marlins), Jeron Thompson (Atlantis Aquatics), Amira Pilgrim (UTT), Zarek Wilson (Blue Dolphins), and Nikoli Blackman (Marlins), with the overall team title being won by Tidal Wave Aquatics.
Minister Smith extends congratulations to all the winners and looks forward to the hosting of the Atlantic Primary Schools meet in November and the Water Polo Championships and ASATT Invitational in December.
