“There's nothing like a good football match to evoke community pride.” These were the sentiments expressed by the Honourable Darryl Smith at the Caledonia AIA versus Central FC game held on Sunday, 13th December 2016.
According to the Minister, this was the second Pro League match that he has attended at the Morvant Recreational Grounds and he would like to congratulate the home team, Caledonia, on their triumph over Central FC on their home turf.
Part of the Minister's vision is to have TT Pro Football League matches played on community grounds so that teams can connect with their community in a more meaningful way.
Minister Smith believes that the grassroots is a resource that should be explored especially for talent identification. He added that he is seeing the positivity and upliftment in the community and will continue to work with MPs and communities across the country towards the upgrade of community grounds to ensure the long-term participation and commitment to sport at the community level.
