The Honourable Darryl Smith extends congratulations to Beach Soccer TT, which placed 3rd overall, and Zane Coker, who won the Most Valuable Goalkeeper Award in the 7th Annual Tobago Beach Soccer Championships held 11th to 13th November 2016 on Turtle Beach, Tobago.
Beach Soccer TT was one of 5 teams from Trinidad and Tobago competing in the 7th Annual Tobago Beach Soccer Championships. The team, consisting of mainly national team players lead by Captain Ryan Augustine and coached by Benyam Astorga, played a total of 6 games, winning 5 and losing 1, in the semi-final round, to Western Ship Paparazzi of Venezuela.
Minister Smith said that he was pleased that Trinidad and Tobago is not limited to only the traditional form of football, noting that beach soccer is becoming a mainstay in sport culture. He also wishes the national beach soccer team all the best ahead of their preparation for the Beach Soccer World Cup qualifiers carded for 20th to 26th February 2016 in Nassau, Bahamas.
