On Wednesday, November 30, 2016 the St. James Youth Centre hosted its second graduation ceremony since opening its doors to the community in February 2016.
Present to congratulate the graduates was the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Darryl Smith, accompanied by Ministry officials. Minister Smith stated that the most meaningful of investments made by the government is not in physical infrastructure but rather, in developing and enriching the human capital of the country, starting with the nation's youth.
The Minister lauded the diligence of the graduates which was evidenced by the excellent work on display at the ceremony, expressing that he was especially pleased to see that the programme's enrolment spanned several age groups. A total of ninety-nine participants successfully completed courses which included cosmetology, small appliance repairs, ballroom dancing and aerobics.
The next cycle of courses will begin in January 2017. All courses are free and interested persons are invited to call the St. James Youth Centre at 787-6670 or to visit the Centre which is located on Terrebrulee Road, St. James for more information.
