The Honourable, Darryl Smith Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, centre, The President of the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Association, Jocelyn Francois Opadeyi, centre, with the Red Force Divas at airport reception held in their honour.

The Honourable Darryl Smith, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, congratulated the Red Force Divas on their victory, at an airport reception held in their honour, on 1st May 2017.

Minister Smith stated that there is a thrust to push and enhance female athletes nationally at the primary school level. He gave his support to the ladies and commended their hard-work. He shared plans to have the Women’s Cricket team be a major part of the Brian Lara Cricket Academy and the programmes that are to come on stream. He expressed that the ladies have made their country and region proud. “Good things are to come in the future for the women’s cricket” said Minister Smith.

The President of the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Association, Jocelyn Francois Opadeyi, thanked the cricket board for their support and the technical support of the team. She congratulated the ladies and urged them to keep their supremacy.

Chief Executive Officer, Suruj Ragoonath, also congratulated the team and all technical staff for their commitment. He shared plans to host a Women’s T20 tournament over a week in Trinidad and requested the Minister’s support.

The Red Force Divas were successful with a 21-run victory over Barbados in Women’s Regional Super50 title on Sunday.
