The Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, with students and coaches from Speyside High School at the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo on Friday 20th April, 2018.

The 2018 Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools’ Track & Field (TTSSTF) Championships kicked off at the Hasley Crawford Stadium on April 19th. The two-day event which ran from April 19th to 20th saw intense competition from students from 96 schools, representing eight districts across Trinidad and Tobago.

An annual event, the TTSSTF Championships are hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools’ Track & Field Association with the aim of developing physical health and fitness in the nation’s youth through track and field activities. In a show of support for these young athletes, the Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, interacted with participating schools from the different regions and offered words of inspiration. The Honourable Minister also took the time to present medals to some of the successful athletes.

The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA) extends heartfelt congratulations to Toco Secondary, the overall champions and to Speyside High School and Pentecostal Light and Life which placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The MSYA also congratulates all other winners and participants in the various events.

The Honourable Minister and the Ministry stand committed to the development of youth in sport and will continue to engage all stakeholders towards the establishment of clear pathways for advanced sporting development and sporting achievement.
