Port of Spain, January, 2019: Cycling is now one step closer to Olympic qualification as the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, through the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs presented a cheque valued at TT$364,724.00 to the Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation (TTCF). This support represents 100% of the financial assistance requested and it will be used toward the Cycling team’s participation in Round 6 of the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup to be held in Hong-Kong from January 21 – 29, 2019.
Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Shamfa Cudjoe expressed her confidence in the sport of cycling, stating that she believes the team will medal at the 2020 Olympic Games. In extending best wishes to the athletes, Minister Cudjoe also reassured the TTCF of Government’s commitment to provide the necessary support to our athletes.
Also present at the handover meeting were the Ministry’s acting Permanent Secretary , Farook Hosein; acting Deputy Permanent Secretary, Denise Arneaud; Chief Executive Officer of the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT), Jason Williams and Executive Manager for Sports Development at SporTT, Anthony Creed.
