The Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, Minister of Youth Development and National Service makes a point to officials from the National Security Youth Groups at a recent meeting.

The Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds, Minister of Youth Development & National Service met with officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Youth Club, Fire Service Youth Club and Prison Youth Club, to collaborate on the way forward for youth development.

During the meeting, Minister Hinds noted, “Our business is to assist in the development of our youth; not to see them as a problem, but to see how we can be of service to them. We would like to have serious collaboration between the Police, Fire and Prison Youth Clubs”.

Senior Superintendent, Collis Hazel, of the Roxborough Police Youth Club highlighted their work in relation to community, health, academic, social and environmental endeavors, which facilitate the holistic development of youths.

Minister Hinds commended the work of the Roxborough Police Youth Club and stated that all of the Youth Clubs should strive to emulate the excellent contribution being made by this youth organisation.

The meeting concluded with the commitment of further collaboration. The Ministry officials present at the meeting were Permanent Secretary Mr. Farook Hosein in the Ministry of Youth Development & National Service; Deputy Permanent Secretaries Mrs. Claire Davidson-Williams and Mrs. Marcia London-Mckellar. Representatives from the Police Service Youth Clubs Oswain Subero, Elvin Reid, Garth Jones and Bruce Roosevelt, along with Kevin Ross of the Fire Service Youth Clubs and Elvin Scantlebury of the Prison Service Youth Clubs attended the meeting.

The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service now has the responsibility for the Retiree Adolescent Partnership Programme, the Geriatric Adolescent Partnership Programme, the Cooperative Development Division, the Friendly Societies Division, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Military Led Academic Training Programme and the State Enterprise - National Entrepreneurship Development Company Limited (NEDCO). The Ministry remains committed to bringing all stakeholders together to promote youth development and encouraging civic-minded citizens to contribute to National Service across Trinidad and Tobago.
