2nd Annual Caribbean Sport Psychology Conference
The Ministry of Sport in collaboration with SanKofa HP will host the 2nd Annual Caribbean Sport Psychology Conference at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad from May 30th – June 1st, 2013.
The focus of the 2013 Caribbean Sport Psychology Conference will be to demonstrate how quality administration, coaching effectiveness, nutrition and cultural expectations may impact mental preparation and performance.
The Sport Psychology Conference and Pre-conference sessions are entitled “The Awakening” and “Conversations.” “The Awakening” places emphasis on the key phrase ‘Possibility is the Only Thing – Conceive it, Believe it, Achieve it’ and the “Conversations” will initiate hard earnest examination of selfhood (self-governance, autonomy, conviction), team-partnership and communalism (cultural and social relatedness).
Ultimately, the SanKofa HP team aims to expose National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to the applied Psychology Conference techniques utilised by their international researchers and practitioners. This initiative will ultimately assist organisations to contribute to total preparation of all their associates and support systems through the creation of new sustainable psychological skills training (PST) opportunities.
This event will be a culminating experience for participants, as many local athletes, coaches and NGBs have already participated in PST programmes, hosted by the Ministry of Sport since 2009.
The benefits of these sustained PST programmes have convinced the Ministry of Sport that NGBs and coaches must continue to have sustainable annual sport psychology forums.
The Media is invited to cover this conference (see programme attached).
