In keeping with his drive to transform community sports grounds into venues capable of hosting higher level sporting events and boost the community's

An integral element of the annual Brian Lara Celebrity Golf Challenge is the contribution made by legends in the games of football and cricket who give of their time to facilitate a clinic for primary school children. The session took place Thursday morning at the Queen's Park Oval with approximately 60 children from St. Agnes Primary and Mucurapo Boys RC.

Minister of Sport Brent Sancho visited the Brian Lara Recreation Ground Wednesday in effort to understand the scope of construction being undertaken by the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago. Accompanied by West Indies legend Brian Lara, Minister Sancho viewed drawings and was updated by contractors on the progress at the Ground, which when completed will feature a 500 seat pavilion with change rooms and storage areas, car park, cricket nets, an outdoor basketball court and a children's play park.

Senator the Honourable Brent Sancho, Minister of Sport distributed Elite Athlete funding today, totalling the sum of Three hundred and ninety-seven thousand, five hundred dollars ($397,500.00).

The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago proud to be a part sponsor of the annual Brian Lara Celebrity Golf Challenge and All-Inclusive Golf Tournament, taking place from 12-14 February 2015.

An itinerary is presented below and media is invited to cover the cricket and football clinics in particular. Approximately 60 children from primary schools in the Port of Spain district will benefit from coaching sessions with legends in both games.

Diego Martin's premier sporting venue, Northern Recreation Ground, will see continued upgrade as Phase II of works begins in the coming weeks. Visiting the site Tuesday were Minister of Sport Brent Sancho and PS, Ministry of Sport Richard Oliver, who were updated on the progress of works and potential for the site to become an income generator for community sport organisations in the area.
