The Hilton Barbados Resort came alive on Tuesday evening as cricket legends Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop were formally inducted into the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Hall of Fame.
Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Hon. Phillip Watts, and Secretary of Youth Empowerment and Sport, Keigon Denoon, attended the prestigious occasion alongside cricket officials, former players, invited guests and members of the regional sporting fraternity. The event celebrated the outstanding contributions of two of the Caribbean’s most influential cricketing figures.
Hosted by CPL Chief Executive Officer, Pete Russell, the ceremony recognised the indelible impact Bravo and Bishop have made on West Indies and regional cricket. Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, the Hon. Charles McDonald Griffith, also extended a warm welcome to Minister Watts.
During an engaging conversation, Bravo and Bishop reflected on their respective cricketing journeys, sharing memories of their early days in the game, defining career moments and challenges encountered along the way. Their candid and inspiring accounts captivated the audience, offering valuable lessons in determination, resilience and the pursuit of excellence.
The evening also brought together several former cricketers, who paid tribute to the enduring legacy of Barbados’ cricketing icon, Sir Garfield Sobers. The tribute served as a fitting reminder of the rich heritage of West Indies cricket and the generations of players who have upheld its proud tradition.
The induction of Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop into the CPL Hall of Fame recognises not only their individual achievements, but also their lasting influence on cricket across the Caribbean and around the world. Through their work as players, leaders, commentators and ambassadors for the game, both men continue to inspire young athletes throughout the region.
